ORBCOMM is a constellation (36 world wide) of low-earth orbiting (LEO) satellite data communication system that is two-way and provides worldwide coverage. The ST2500 is easy to install at a relative low cost and minimal maintenance requirements. The Transceiver is capable of continuous remote operation and delivers geopositional data calculated by measuring the Doppler frequency shift of the satellite downlink during a scheduled pass by the orbiting vehicle. The optional ST2500G uses a GPS receiver for fast positioning in cases where better accuracy is required. All other specifications are identical to the ST2500 unit.
