LabVIEW Graphical System Design Environment

Support for Hydra Probe II and SDI-12 Encoder Added to LabVIEW SDI-12 API

PORTLAND, Ore., October 2, 2008 – With the release of National Instruments (NI) SDI-12 API for LabVIEW, a graphical system design tool for custom data collection, analysis, and visualization applications, Stevens Water continues to expand product support for third party software platforms.

The SDI-12 API is a software add-on for LabVIEW that gives users native support for devices that use the SDI-12 communication protocol, such as the Stevens Hydra Probe II soil moisture sensor and SDI-12 shaft encoder.

With new support for SDI-12 devices, NI LabVIEW now supports the ability to directly collect and analyze data from environmental monitoring instruments that communicate with SDI-12.

“Now, with the National Instruments LabVIEW SDI-12 API environmental sensor software, engineers can shorten their development time when designing data-logging and data acquisition applications that use common sensors from leading environmental companies,” said John Hanks, vice president of data acquisition and control at National Instruments.

As Stevens continues to expand its line of SDI-12 instrumentation, support will be added to LabVIEW in order to ensure that those who rely on the program for quality data collection, analysis, and visualization will have continued support for the most current environmental monitoring products available.
