What is RSS?
If you've never heard of RSS before, you're not alone. Having been around for several years now, the technology is just now entering mainstream use on the internet. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and can oftentimes be identified by the orange RSS icon
you may have seen on many websites. This icon indicates they offer an "RSS feed". Using an RSS Reader (a program that allows you to read RSS news), users can subscribe to news "feeds". Companies such as CNN, BBC, Amazon.com, Wired Magazine, and other organizations such as ours publish short news clips in the form of a feed. When you are subscribed to a feed, you automatically receive these updates whenever they are published. Essentially, you are subscribing to receive a website's content.
Unlike email lists, you are in total control of your feed subscription. You are free to subscribe or cancel the feed at any time without needing permission of the feed's author. This puts you in total control of the content you receive. It also makes it extremely easy to receive news from a lot of sources without having to visit each website individually. With RSS, the news you want is brought to you, automatically.
Sounds good, but how to I subscribe?
Subscribing to our feed is easy, even if you're new to RSS. Many popular websites, such as My Yahoo!, AOL, and Google offer built in RSS Readers. Click one of the icons below to add our feed to your favorite web-based reader (no software downloads required for web-based readers):
... or visit our RSS subscription page for even more options. It's that simple!
